USA Today Bestselling Author of Sweet Cowboy and Small-Town Romance
Welcome! I’m so glad you stopped by.
I’ve loved books for as long as I can remember. As a child, I could happily disappear into a story for hours, and somewhere along the way I began wondering what it would be like to create stories of my own. I never imagined that dream would grow into a career writing more than 100 sweet romance novels, with more than 17.5 million copies sold around the world.
If you’ve found your way here, chances are you enjoy heartwarming stories filled with hope, family, and happily-ever-afters. Those are the stories I love writing, and I’m delighted to share them with you.
How It All Began
Life didn’t take me straight to becoming an author.
After growing up in northern Virginia, I moved to California to attend the University of California, Berkeley. Following graduation, I became a flight attendant for an international airline, a career that allowed me to travel the world. Those adventures—and the journal I kept along the way—still inspire many of the international settings in my books.
When my flying days came to an end, I entered the software industry and eventually became a vice president at a software development company. It was a rewarding career, but tucked away in the back of my mind was a dream I’d carried for years: to write romance novels.
Selling that first book wasn’t easy. Like many writers, I collected my share of rejection letters before finally receiving the “yes” I’d been hoping for. Then came another sale…and another…and another. Eventually I was able to leave the corporate world behind and become a full-time author—a dream come true.
Why I Write Sweet Romance
I’ve always believed that love, kindness, and hope make for the very best stories.
My books are filled with ordinary people facing life’s unexpected twists, discovering that love sometimes arrives when it’s least expected. Whether it’s a rugged cowboy, a small-town sheriff, a determined single mom, or two people finding their way back to each other, I love writing characters who remind us that second chances really do exist.
Readers often tell me they enjoy closing one of my books with a smile. That may be the nicest compliment I can receive.
Why Cowboys?
People often ask why so many cowboys appear in my books.
The answer is simple—I love the American West. Wide-open spaces, close-knit communities, hardworking people, and the values of family, loyalty, and perseverance create the perfect setting for romance. Cowboys are strong without losing their tenderness, independent yet deeply devoted to the people they love.
No matter where my stories are set, those qualities always seem to find their way onto the pages.
Life in Michigan
After many wonderful years in California—including living in the Sierra Nevada mountains—my husband and I moved to Michigan in 2020 to escape the increasing threat of wildfires.
Today we enjoy the beauty of all four seasons. I love walking the wooded trails behind our home with our dogs, watching the changing leaves in autumn, and discovering new places throughout this beautiful state. Those peaceful walks often become the place where new story ideas begin.
When I’m not writing, you’ll usually find me reading, spending time with family, or planning the next adventure for one of my characters.
